Asking When

Asking When

She complained to them all
When do you stop obeying him
They stopped to listen
Feeling embarrassed for him
And maybe just a little
For her too

“When” was the question
Shouted with her loudest voice
When would they
Stand up to him
Any one of them
She pleaded
When would they realize
It was really her

I watched from a distance
Maybe she was just
Pointing out the obvious
A last attempted effort
To confirm
Were they with him
Or had they
Been following her
All along

Above are more of my doodles, this time while sitting in the lounge today, of a car dealership. I did about five doodle sketches. This was one of them. I used blue ink, but thought turning the ink black would be more dramatic. So I fooled with a few setting. The original version of the sketch is below.
I’m not sure how the image came to be. It started as two lovers staring into each other’s eyes, thinking of a story I had written a long time ago. Then as I applied more lines, the image turned, and this woman was pleading to the crowd. I think my thoughts may have been distracted by recent news, or maybe more personal thoughts, ones I thought, were buried in the past.

    Gros bisous

  2. I find your 'doodles' fascinating. So much story conveyed in those thin ink lines. You have a huge talent, Anthony.

  3. I think I like the second with the blue ink better. The figures seem to be more distinct. Yes, your doodles are very good. And so are the words to go with your "doodles". I'm sure they were following her all along.

  4. It creeps from us, doesn't it, finding its own way. Always curious how and where your mind goes.

  5. martinealison: I think what you say is the way it is. I think the doodles are old images hiding until I start scribbling. Thank you

Elisabeth: Thank you. It is interesting how much can be found in a doodle, while waiting for life to move on.

Yvonne: I’m not sure which work best. Black is more traditional, for an ink sketch. They were following her all along. He just fit the role, for those still unable to openly except openly the woman as the real leader. It happens all the time, hopefully less.

erin: It does, and usually is a surprise at some point as the lines begin to form. It’s kind of scary to think in random lines.
