Wilderness 2
I painted and posted the first version of “Wilderness” on December 12th. I experimented with wax in the first version, and was not happy with the overall result. The painting here is an attempt to improve the composition, and to have a wax-less version of “Wilderness”.
I will probably end up doing a version 3.

It's stunning Anthony, and thanks for the link, I love those guys
ReplyDeleteI like this one better because the city is forced into the background, a good example of "less being more". The encrochment is evocative and inevitable. Actually, it leaves me with a totally different feeling than the first in which I thought the message was that the city itself is a wilderness. I like the woods.
ReplyDeleteUn acharnement qui fait de vous un talentueux artiste... Gros bisous et joyeuses fêtes.
ReplyDeleteLorraine: Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYvonne: This is why I need to try again. the message intended is for the city to be the wilderness. Maybe the third time will be a charm?
martinealison: One of the nice things about art, is the effort is mostly fun.
Happy Holiday’s to you too.
This one looks very good; I like it better than version 1- I guess because the emphasis is on the trees in the foreground here.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think the painting is better. The overall composition is better. But the intent of city as wilderness comes off better in the first. I’m going to try a third time, with fewer trees, and just a few branches extending over the city behind, enough to hold both foreground and background together.
