Umbrellas in Flight Under Different Lights

Umbrellas in Flight Under different Lights
Today I did some more sketches, continuing to fool around with umbrellas. I’m at that point again. I need to come up with the story..
Then I started playing with the lights. The grey version is more accurate as the sketch was drawn on toned grey paper. The same sketch  under a yellow light I think has more appeal. Looks sort of like an illustration in the yellowing pages of an old children’s storybook.
5.5”x 8.5” ballpoint pen and a colored pencil on toned grey paper

    1. I didn’t think of MP.. I was still into strong winds and women in flowing skirts when this was sketched.
      Thank you

  2. Oh yes...the yellow one really comes to life.
Reminds me of the sepia-toned illustration in an old children's story book too.
    Ah, such memories of childhood!:)

    1. The light source really does make a difference. I so love the illustrations those older children’s books. Actually I like children’s books in general mostly because they almost always include visual art.
      Thank you
