Legs In the Rain 2013

Legs In the Rain 2013

I did this sketch before the sketch I posted yesterday. This is closer in composition to a small painting I did in 2011 that placed in a gallery competition. It ended up being sold. I’ve included an image of the painting as well as the original concept sketch below.
Since I have been sketching umbrellas again, I thought I’d revisit and hopefully come up with a larger variation or two on the theme. I’ll get around to doing new painting, eventually.
Sketch: 7”x 10” ballpoint pen
Painting: 7”x 9” watercolor
Concept: 3.5”x 4.5” liner pen, brush pen, watercolor

  1. Bonjour Anthony,

    Gros bisous

    1. I’m so glad you and friend enjoyed. There is a need for a little fun to go with the dark sky when it rains, and some colorful umbrellas that needed just a little more to brighten the day.
      Thank you

  2. Wow quite a different yet magnificent trio, the first the sketch perfect overture,
    colour version is quite cool
and the third blotchy and completely abstract.....you do so much with one sketch

Happy fourth of July my dear dear Anthony, may it be a super celebration and that you can spot the glorious Sparkles of the shinning lights in the sky from your quiet corner!!! x

    1. Time, I think is behind some of these differences, a desire to improve, when maybe the earlier sketch in the end was more than enough.
I hope the first was the same for you. Plans are to watch fireworks while floating on water. A temporary island, sort of.

    1. I’m too busy to actually set up a shop. I draw and paint more than I will ever sell, especially of the few subjects I have a passion for. There will always be a surplus of my islands off solitude.
