1941

1941

The reference for the sketch today was a photo of mom at nineteen.
A few days ago I sketch from a photo of her taken in 1937.
6”x 8” ink on toned grey paper

  1. And still such a beautiful smile that reaches her eyes, she must love you to bits and vice-versa of course, you drew the love in her eyes that's kinda miraculous, wow

    1. She still has the smile, and it still lights up the room.
      Thank you

  2. She is SO beautiful...and I love the way you've captured the light falling onto those stunning features, endowing them with a truly ethereal quality.
    Is she standing in moonlight?

    1. I have been reviewing old photos to find her portrait through the years.
The reference photo for this sketch was taken in a garden, lit from the sun from what I can tell. The grey of the paper here I think brings forth the moon.
      Thank you

I think it’s more the subject than the sketch☺
