Dead or Asleep

 “P”

“D”

Dead or Asleep
More often than not the male models when they pose flat on the stage end up looking dead in my sketches. It is as if I murdered them to achieve the affect. The female models, left to my hand, are more likely to be perceived as eventually waking up. Maybe yesterday if “P” had used a pillow or two for his pose, he might have lived?
The second sketch of “D” from earlier in the week (like the others of her I have recently posted in similar poses), show what a few pillows under a blanket can achieve. The added effort to keep her comfortable assures she will probably wake after finishing the sketch.
Both: 12”x 9” fountain pen and chalk on toned grey paper.

Portrait of "P", the Next Morning

Portrait of “P”, the Next Morning

This morning I had a chance to do another quick portrait of “P”. He modeled for the drop in life drawing session I regularly attend.
