Hat Off and On

Hat off and On

Some sketches of “RO” posing from the beginning of the week. I had sketched a more exciting hat modeled by “MU” a day later and never got around to posting this earlier session with “RO”.
1st: 9”x 12 “ fountain pen, oil sanguine and chalk on toned paper
2nd: 17”x 14” ballpoint pen gestures..

    1. The imaginative is as much if not more the interaction with the model as with my drawings.
      Thank you

  2. Exactly what is it about a hat that has such power to transform an entire persona?
In the first sketch, she is relaxed and casually dressed, perhaps enjoying an informal chat with friends...whereas in the second, she is unmistakably the woman about town, a successful career woman...and all because of the addition of a hat!
    Amazing! :)

    1. The hats allow us to be someone else, be it of another age, or a fashion model, a construction worker, a soldier, a knight…
“RO” I’m sure has done a lot of fashion model work in her past. She may still be. Even when out of costume, she dresses in style, with some great hats.
