Still Hugging the Shore

Still Hugging the Shore

She becomes the shore
Remembered long ago
A sculpture weathered
And sometimes ignored
A remembered affair
Lost in old age
Too convoluted
Ever to occur

Another sketch of the same pose “J” was in for the drawing in the previous post.
Islands Off Solitude
12”x 9” fountain pen, oil sanguine and chalk on toned paper

  1. O, I love the poem. It absorbed your longing very well...First line points to observe the sketch. Excellent effective poem and sketch pairing!

  2. Bonjour cher Anthony,

Une autre pose mais au combien merveilleuse... J'aime cette attitude qui donne la belle impression que cette jeune femme est perdue dans ses rêves.

    Gros bisous ☼

    1. I think “J” did spend much of this pose in a dream. I was envious..
      Thank you

  3. Exactly my point!
Like me, she will hug it forever...aah, such utter bliss!!
She seems to be merging with the very rocks themselves...becoming a part of the precious Islands and their history...
    Wonderful! :)

    1. And your point is so close to a story I am working on, and can’t seem to separate at the moment from even these drawing sessions spent in front of a model, especially models like “J” who melt so well into my island shores.
      Thank you

    1. Hang onto the early memories, when the euphoria of first love felt so wonderful, when all was so easily believable. Don’t let good memories be destroyed what ended them.. One of the great things about getting old is that we are inclined to remember the past much more than the more recent issues complicating our days.

  5. can't even enjoy the memories, he lied all along, he was married and had 2 kids, now how unfair is that: telling me he was single. seeing a future when none existed, I can't hold on to the good, because there were lies..oops father confessor are you now? lol
