Last Warriors

Last Warriors

Two young found
Quietly settled within her form
Rock frozen as a giant on the shore
Where finally overwhelmed

Waiting quietly like her
Eyes toward the horizon
As they had been told
The last warriors
Knowing someday
They will return

I’m going to be taking a break for the next few days. There are some on the other side of this screen acting like they are more important than youJ

Afternoon Cool

Afternoon Cool

Some sketches of “SR” posing in his tux, yesterday in the afternoon.
I managed to place him a couple of times next to a sketch of “SH” sporting her flower wig, in one of the drawings, from the day before.
1st: 9”x 12” fountain pen, oil sanguine and chalk on toned paper
2nd and 3rd: 17”x 14” ballpoint pen

Place

Place

“SR” was the model yesterday. These sketches were from poses in the morning. In one of the poses time was spent to place him somewhere other than against the blank wall of the studio. I guess I could have finished the missing arm.
Both: 24”x 18” pastel

Refusing the Wallpaper

Refusing the Wallpaper

“SH” posed today for a costume figure session in a wig of plastic flowers. This is what I sketched based on one of her poses.
18”x 24” pastel on colored paper.

Tortured Face

Tortured Face

I do find it so much easier to show pain and suffering in the portrait of an older face. Maybe I search harder with those who have been here as long or longer than me? Maybe “R” in his poses acts out these emotions more?
A sketch from a session with “R” yesterday.
