Unexpected Reproach

Unexpected Reproach

Placed her with my gulls.
They don’t usually complain.

The reference for the figure is based on a sketch from a life drawing session, not too long ago. It could have been either one of the two poses. In hindsight the sketch not picked would have told a better story.

Imaginary Rescue

Imaginary Rescue

Found my sketch of her
drawn one typical cold
rainy winter night
in the dark basement
of a pub in Edinburgh.

She was acting bored
before young artists,
and a few like me,
sipping beer and wine
as we sketched her
posing in the nude.

The other day I rescued her,
placing her with my gulls
on a favorite shore,
not realizing how bored
she’d be in my
imaginary world.
