Patience

Patience

Sketched her in May. It’s taken a while. Just getting around to showing some of the earlier sketches from sessions in Edinburgh.
12”x 16” ink, sanguine and chalk on wrapping paper

  1. Thoughtful, focused, more thinking than feeling...Her look mesmerizing, and it's interesting, will she be seen in the crowd? at the rail-station, for example...

    1. Agree.. Even more she was waiting for something more to happen, I think. Not sure she had any expectations though based on those of us who were drawing her.

  2. I love the sepia tones...so evocative of a bygone era.
For me, she is from the First World War era...and that endless patience is in awaiting a letter from the front...for there is a hint of sadness in her eyes too...that is strongly suggestive of dark premonitions...

    Have a Great Weekend! :))
