Revenge

Revenge

“J” posed for a costumed figure session I attended yesterday, as a lion tamer. A profession I hope is no more, and goes the way of other related animal circus acts.
I sketched her anyway, spending a few minutes at the end attempting to add a lion.

11”x 15” ink and watercolor

  1. Oh my gosh!
At first glance I took her to be male...my deepest apologies "J"!!
I think it may have been the costume that threw me...and the sense of power that emanates from this striking sketch. Few women I know appear this "strong".
Wow...the colours are fabulous - just look at that jacket!!
Oh that poor lion, though...he looks totally dominated...a noble beast completely subdued.

Yes, I agree...here's hoping these kind of professions are no more...

  2. “J” often dresses up and pretends to be male.
    Thank you

  3. Yes, looking like a male...also, some frustration here, "do it or not, really?" And lion seems expecting the stroking gesture or some meat... Yes, the colors are very festive!

    1. “J” has a lot of male oriented costumes. I made up the facial expressions. Her expression was too calm.
      Thank you
