Viewed Through Trees

Viewed Through Trees

Let the pen escape again
to a place I travel more
than I should.

Let it walk through the trees
to find another place to view
my islands from.

Sketched on sort of a lonely Christmas Day. The only references were old memories.

First Island

First Island

A short distance
from the mainland,
easily paddled to
in a yellow canoe.

Was looking at most of my sketches posted on December 25th over the past number of years. They were of my islands, of course.
So yesterday’s sketches included a few of this island without a name, easily paddled to, for so many years, on much warmer days, in my yellow canoe.

Stance

Stance

Between forward
and back.
Not quite ready
to dance.
Going nowhere
for a moment
or so.

Another sketch of “HA” from a session not to long ago.

Sunset at the Straits

Sunset at the Straits

The reference photo for this sketch was taken this past summer by either a daughter or her husband somewhere near the bridge across the Straits of Mackinac.

Here and There

Here and There

A few minutes here.
A few minutes there.
Long enough,
I suppose,
to summon being
somewhere else.

A couple of sketches of ten minute poses “HA” provided in a session on a Tuesday morning last month, while still in Edinburgh.
