Between Islands and Temporary Prison

Between Islands and Temporary Prison

Imprisoned by an appointment.
Only I was on time.
After perusing the pages of a magazine
long enough to go insane,
I escaped for fifteen minutes or so
sketching the pretty face on the cover.

Of course the appointment ended up being rescheduled for another day. Added the island for sanities sake before getting on with my day.

8”x 6” ink and a little chalk on tinted paper

“J” posed for a costumed figure session I attended yesterday, as a lion tamer. A profession I hope is no more, and goes the way of other related animal circus acts.
I sketched her anyway, spending a few minutes at the end attempting to add a lion.

Brothers

Brothers

Breaking for a few minutes, not so long ago. Based on recent photo from a daughter. Their sister should be between them. My sketch had her looking way too old. Will have to spend a few more minutes sometime to find her youth.

Faces

Faces

Here are a few of the last to be figured out. What they might look like when they enter, during, and maybe when they leave the story. Auditions are finally over, except I’ll probably change my mind a few hundred more times, or find a face I like better, and start over again.

Some models, though completely still, appear to be in a constant motion. So many of the poses “P” models do this.
Sketched in a session with “P” last week.

18”x 24” graphite, oil sanguine and chalk on craft paper.
