Prepared
Prepared to compete,
to endure the abuse,
the pain.
Yet still,
ignored.
“J” conveyed a definite statement
in this pose, probably better expressed without the attempt of words.
She questioned why I sketched her
as her, rather than a guy, followed by a slightly sarcastic smile.
The pose was long enough for the
two sketches here to evolve.
1st: 24”x 18” ebony
graphite and chalk on craft paper
2nd: 9”x 12” ink and
chalk on toned paper
Love the model, the duality 'on the face' and words are always good, please, let them go, they are your power.Hope, the sketches will be evolved in near future?
ReplyDeleteShe is a great model. the shoulder pads was her idea..

Aah...the ultimate female warrior...takes me back to Celtic times when women traditionally assumed such roles...and she is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine her ever being ignored though...here is a champion, if ever I've seen one...:))
Maybe more her gender in general being ignored as the traditional games season and it warriors end for another year?
