Heading Set

Heading Set

Heading away at last,
probably too late.
Racing an evening storm,
toward a sheltered cove.

Not particularly concerned
who wins anymore.
Heading set at last,
away to the past.

So many evenings like this,
not wanting to return.
Heading before a storm
as the darkness sets in.

Stranger's Face

Stranger's Face

An old collected image
waiting to be sketched.
This void between holidays,
when sessions to draw from models
aren’t happening.

I resort to these strangers,
Attempting to connect.
Of course she remains
a face in a photo,
a stranger from
another’s past.

A Remembered Yearning

A Remembered Yearning

One of the islands off the mainland shore.
A remembered longing to explore.
A remembered escape to solitude.

Finding the Openings

Finding the Openings

Looking for those dark places between the rock formations on a familiar shore.
Looking for openings to the islands within.
