Familiar Face

Familiar Face

“GE” modeled for a session I attended a couple of days ago. A favorite for many years. Love to sketch his face so much that the rest of his pose often becomes an afterthought.

Anticipation

Anticipation

Maybe it’s anticipation
of what is next.
Or maybe tired
of the white
and purples
and greys,
of another cold
winter day.

Another scrap of matt board from a recent day of framing. So I sketched.

Pretending

Pretending

A story animated by the teller.
Hand gestures,
moving lips,
rolling eyes.
Just keep looking.
Smile.
Nod
from time
to time.

A sketch of “J” pretending. From a session with her not too long ago.

Pressure

Pressure

Back again.
Ignored long enough.
Maybe wanting answers
to those questions
not asked.

Procrastinating again. Sketching from gathered references. This on a scrap piece of matt board.

Oversee

Oversee

She was there as a repeated sketch
on a less interesting stage.
The buildings, the trees, the sea
settled in behind her.
A sort of oblivious world
for her to oversee.

Sketched her a couple of years ago in a life drawing session. Repeated the sketch yesterday in a different place.
