From The Other Edge

From The Other Edge

When she shows up again
with some time to reflect
and the view from one side
wasn’t enough.

Yesterday afternoon “ES” was back for a second week in the same pose. I had sketched her from the left side of the studio last week. Yesterday I moved to the right and sketched her again.

Ignored By a Purple Crowd

Ignored By a Purple Crowd

Sitting on a yellow blanket covered set of stools,
left me wondering what to do,
once I had her sketched in.
Probably should have placed her
on a rocky shore or in the desert.
She just wasn’t dressed for either place.
So I put her with a bunch of purple snobs
on the wrong side of a yellow….. something???

My sketch of “AL” this morning in a session with the Independent Painters Group.

Daisy Road

Daisy Road

It was almost forgotten.
The main artery to the heart
of a past ignored for too long.
It only took a few random lines.
The boy and his fat dog
and a few imaginary friends,
should have been added too.

Another thumbnail sketch. Discovered the ink was water-soluble, when the colors insisted on being included.

River Trail

River Trail

So easily followed
in this solitary phase,
on this intimate page.
Waters to a place
hidden in once
promised dreams.

Did a number of thumbnail sketches the other day attempting to escape other tasks I should have been doing.
Didn’t realize the ink in a new pen was soluble, which enhanced the escape even more when I added a little color.

Like A Sculpture

Like A Sculpture

Like a sculpture
pretending with intent
to never move.
Waiting with longing
for the timer
of her connection
to the world
to go off.

A sketch of “SA” in her longest pose from the session with her in the afternoon yesterday.
