Weathering An Imaginary Storm

Weathering An Imaginary Storm

“P” posed as a field worker wearing a floppy green hat intended to block out an imaginary hot sun. He held his signature scythe to harvest imaginary wheat in an imaginary field surrounding him. I’ve sketched him posing with it many times before.
As I sketched an imaginary storm slowly emerged. I started seeing an imaginary wheel rather than the scythe. And his hat only needed a slight color change to complement a face intended to be on an imaginary stormy sea.
Sketched in a costume figure session with “P” yesterday afternoon.
14”x 17” ink and watercolor

  1. Oh, wow, I love how your imagination worked, how your work inspired for more...
Great! I like the joyful expression at his face.

  2. Isn't imagination a magical thing?!
Now we see it all too...a glimpse inside your mind... externalised to include us all!
I can hear the crash of the waves against the side of the boat. Truly!

    1. Often the best part of drawing/painting from life beyond the subject matter are the many puzzles to be resolved.
      Thank you
