Touch
of Innocence
Another
face sketched
from
an old mail order catalog.
A
model, now probably as old as me,
pleasing
a now dead photographer
making
a slip magical,
with
powers of beauty
and
innocence.
Sketched
last week in Bogalusa, Louisiana. It had become too hot to sketch outside. I
remember as a kid looking for faces to sketch, going through the underwear section
in mail order catalogs. It was the only section where most of the models weren’t
showing off toothy smiles, which are still a challenge for me. The pretty faces
were instead reflective and serious, waiting to be captured by clueless awkward
kids, aspiring artists, like me.
