Left Alone
I see in my sleep
on the ambiguous screen
behind eye lids.
And while awake through
clouded liquid on old lenses
that comes out of hiding
when looking away
and back again.
And in the sleep of others
hoping they won’t stare back,
wanting to be left alone.
“SO” modeled yesterday morning
for a session at the local art center. A favorite. Have been sketching her once
or twice a year for at least the last ten years of her over thirty something
years as a model. Was wondering how many familiar shores she has ended up
sleeping on when in a similar pose. A place I end up placing her almost every
time.
17”x 14” ink and watercolor
Wonderful sketch, the model and words! The real success, all components come together.

DeleteOh this is so beautiful...both the gorgeous sketch and your haunting poem!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the pose...how could you possibly place her anywhere else, other than the beach?
