Doomed

Doomed

Long enough to know
there isn’t going to be
another winning hand.
The promises aren’t
going to come true.

Thoughts while sketching “MT” in a session last night dressed up in this costume, pretending to play cards.
I couldn’t resist sketching in a couple of disenchanted followers, tired of his game.
14”x 17” ink and watercolor

Fountain Pen: Platinum Carbon fine point

  1. So true, so sad, and as always drawn perfectly, I feel at home here because it's not just about beauty, and lovely, and fun it's about Life. It feels better to see and read and fell what you write than it is to read about joy, although you do joy wonderfully well, but it's not always about joy, and for that I'm so grateful.

    1. This is my sketch of Matt, a model I have known and sketched many times. He was just playing out a role. I thought he needed the followers he has coned to care for him, to reinforce his loosing hand☺

  2. It's always good to have followers when you hit a losing streak...if just to help pick up the pieces! 😉
Seriously, though, this is wonderful...and suggests a familiar story. He is the only one who is unaware of how much he is losing...is carrying on oblivious...still believing his luck will change...
    Poor guy...Lol

    1. Funny. I saw the guy as a selfish gambler and the followers as a little foolish to be following, and maybe realizing who he really is.. His luck won’t change.
      Thank you
