Thank you I think the grey paper contributes to the perceived expressions in the last two sketches. He’s the least complicated in the first. What a difference fewer lines make☺
I do think it’s easier to express and experience emotions through images of the body, be it human or even animal. Although I can get just as excited by old twisted trees or crashing waves on a shore.
I perceive him to be a North American Indian...there is an unmistakable aura of ancient wisdom surrounding him. These are magnificent sketches...so incredibly atmospheric :)
His features with the long hair does contribute to your perception. I draw him so often these day. He has become just “ST”. He is very wise ☺ Thank you

He looks like a Viking. Nice study of the human form. I once read that the most beautiful thing to paint is the human body. I think that can be true.
