Bumper Pose, 1944

Bumper Pose, 1944

I was playing with black and white, again, finding more interest in the lines. This was a friend of mom’s, I’m fairly sure. There were a number of photos like this from her album of similar poses, of young women balancing on car bumpers.

  1. Love the title, Love the Drawing, and how true is this from all old photos I have no matter the woman she's always leaning against the bumper ah you're a genius, love this

    1. Thank you.
The old cars had running boards and chrome bumpers. They were great perches for these sorts of poses. I’ll probably sketch a few more.

  2. Oh wow...that dress...her hairstyle...SO 1940's.
Really wish I could have been there...it is such a contrast to today's fashion trends.
We women seen to have lost the ability to dress with that kind of elegance...makes me rather sad!

    1. The Fashion sense on display in the old photos may be misleading. I notice often the men are in suits and ties in these photos too. I wonder if the cameras came out at more at special occasions? The day to day attire maybe didn’t receive the same attention.
