Contrasting Moods
Two sketches of “RD”, from bold to wimpy
lines. The mood changed between the morning pose and the last pose later in the
evening, both his and mine.
Morning: 24”x 18” graphite
Evening: 9”x 12” fountain pen, chalk and oil
sanguine on toned grey paper.
Morning - more relaxing? ..later - lack of patience....
ReplyDeleteA typical day
DeleteAt ease in the beginning, ending with some muscle contraction, I image i couldn't last that long, but both are excellent sketches
ReplyDeleteA dynamic new day, for some, ending, maybe reflective, knowing it all starts again tomorrow..
DeleteYes...I love how his almost defiant mood of the morning...has later become less self-assured.
ReplyDeleteThere is an extremely appealing vulnerability in the second sketch that makes him appear so "human"...:)
I felt like my day spent drawing him, in the morning and again in the evening, sort of followed the same course. There were a lot of poses and sketches between the two. They sort of followed the same pattern, as I look back at them.
