Second Week in Orange, Now Red

Second Week In Orange, Now Red

This morning was the second week “R” modeled in the same pose for the Independent Painters Group. I painted her from a different vantage point in the studio, in acrylics this time.
My first pass on her orange dress was with red paint. I never did get back before the pose ended to add the orange highlights. Last weeks watercolor attempt is a much better painting of her dress color.

  1. I like the color palette in this, but I would have liked to see more depth and shadow in the dress. This woman looks my aunt Joanne when she was a young woman. I've never seen a painting that reminds me of someone I once knew!

Thanks for your kind comments, btw. And for answering my carefully wrought questions:)

    1. The woman in this weeks painting doesn’t look a lot like “R”. I was closer last week in the watercolor version. If this looks like a younger version of your aunt, I am pleased.
      Thank you

    2. It does, and I miss her greatly. This made me happy even though it can't be her. It seems as if it could be! I hear we all have a twin. Perhaps this is so.

    1. The background was sort of last minute, more desperation than brilliance.. I was running out of time.
