Beautiful indeed! There is something really evocative about this one...she has become me...in my first ever job at age sixteen. Something here is suggestive of imagined isolation...of the feared "newness" of the workplace and responsibility...and the only lifeline is the voice on the other end of the phone. Tea breaks are the most difficult...never knowing what to say to new colleagues. I love the suggestion of tower blocks through the windows...gives us a sense of place...of life in the city. Brilliant!! :))
Thank you I like your story for this, a lot. I had started to write something to go with the sketch, but got lost in how much I just enjoyed drawing this model and her costume. She wasn’t even born when the green phone was popular.
The sketches, paintings and sometimes the writing I post on this site express what needs to be known about me. I attempt to record on a daily basis what I observe, what I imagine, and sometimes what I dream about.
I hope you enjoy my art, and the dialogue.
