As She Appears

As She Appears

Someone may think this isn’t finished
That I stopped and didn’t start again
Someone might wonder if a painting
Is ever really done
Do we not just stop
When the image is clear
When the past filters through

Someone may think they know
That I stopped when I saw her again
Someone might wonder if her ghost
Is ever really gone
Do we not just stop
When the image is clear
When the anger returns

The original sketch was posted in August of last year. This painting almost appears too, just like her ghost.
I’ll probably work some more on the painting, maybe even this week.
22”x 28” acrylic on stretched canvas

    1. And the more added, the more they come forward, the more they become real☺

  2. Interesting question....is a painting ever done? I expect, like a poem, it never is. Even if I've had one published....if I pull it back up, I tweek it, can't leave it alone. I would imagine it's much the same with a painting.

    1. What comes from my head does continue. I don’t know where to stop. When working from a model or a natural view, I usually know when I have captured what I want and can leave the rest alone.

  4. They really do return, don't they?
Appearing out of the brickwork to glide across out peripheral consciousness in 3D colour...but only for a moment.
    Yet we remember them forever...
