A Surprise Visit by the Queen

A Surprise Visit by the Queen

“MA” replaced a scheduled model who had a last minute conflict.
A pleasant surprise.
“MA” is a favorite.
Here are some of the sketches from the session yesterday afternoon.
First three: 17”x 14” ballpoint pen
Last: 9”x 12” fountain pen, sanguine and chalk on toned paper

Preparing for a Longer Pose

"SH"

 "GR"

Preparing for a Longer Pose
Some compilations of warm up sketches of short poses from recent sessions with “SH”, “GR” and “ST”.
Links to some of the drawings resulting from the longer poses of theses sessions are noted below.
I like these compilations almost as much as the hour or two after spent in the slow process of adjusting lines that went down so much easier with the short poses.
All: 24”x 18” ebony graphite

Continuous

Continuous

Even when holding still, the poses “ST” provides seem just a pause in a motion continuing through.
He posed this like this, this morning.

Making Twins

Making Twins

“GE” posed for a second week this morning for the Independent Painters Group.
I was in the process of making twins.. I ran out of time.
I suppose if I wasn’t so lazy now, I could copy what I did before the pose, ended..
Or maybe it’s just too many portraits lately of “GE”?
