Lost from History
Within a rocky canvas
Nature left behind
Hidden for a time
Living in the present
Hoping with each breath
Today’s history
Happens somewhere else
Lost from History
Islands Off Solitude
5”x 11” ballpoint pen on toned
grey paper
Beautiful verse and beautiful line work...!
ReplyDeleteInteresting...last lines, hoping today's history happens somewhere else. I like the lines drawn, the figure lost in contemplation.
ReplyDeleteHope your summer's been good! A little chillier of late than I like.
The purpose of being on the island, (whatever/where ever the island is), is to escape the rest of the worlds troubles.

Hope your summer is going well too. Per your latest post it appears to be. So far this summer we have been too busy to get out and sail enough.. Hopefully August works out better..
Such mournful sadness...both in her pose, and in your words.
ReplyDeleteI can't help being curious about her history.
The foetal pose suggests a deep need for nurturing...
When drawing I was thinking of her as curling up within herself, forming her own island to escape within.. it was with this thinking the words evolved. Being alone within, doe make it hard to receive nurturing…

Words, photo took my breath away....\I had read once that when each soul is evolved we can relive history consciously, no holocaust, no prisons, no Russian prisons, no Chinese massacre no no no killing can you imagine being able to relive history in full conscience, blows my mind

DeleteI think history can only be relived in our imaginations; Stored in memories or told or written. History ends up in the past, immediately. The good times should be embraced. the bad stuff should be remembered and actions taken against those who attempt to do the bad stuff again, to make sure they don’t. Unfortunately, memories are selective, and the bad stuff continues. And too many, even those who remember are like me, loosing oneself from history hoping to escape.
