Still
Standing, “S” in Pastel
This
morning was the second week “S” posed for the Independent Painters Group. He
was in the same pose, of course, so the group had a second week to finish the
paintings they had started.
My
last weeks painting was in watercolor. Today I moved to a slightly different
vantage point in the studio and did the above piece in soft pastels.
19”x
24” pastel on sanded Bristol paper.
I
had time at the end of the session to do another sketch. Instead of drawing in the
stool he was leaning on, and the blank wall behind, I started drawing in and environment
and maybe a character to share the page with him.
9”x
12” ballpoint pen on toned grey paper

The colour sketch is fabulous...reminds me of summer, with his tanned skin and sandals!
ReplyDeleteIn the black and white one...wow...he appears so domineering - almost intimidating. How do you DO that...suggest so much with so few lines?
You are so talented:)
I think he had a good summer. He has a great tan. I couldn’t make up my mind deciding colors for the background, so I used a bit of each color I saw on “S”.
Delete“S” is such a kind and gentle guy.. I sort of saw him pushing any evil away☺
Thank you
When I saw your top soft pastel piece I thought of my hubby...he dressed this way all summer! The only difference...hubby shaves his head :) I do love the colors in this one. I also love your imagination on the sketch drawing, Anthony...love your talent~~~
ReplyDeleteHe should obviously be modeling☺
