Caught

Caught

The sketch is from a reference photo. She caught me. This happens sometimes. I pretended I was photographing the crowd behind. The sloped seating is on the plaza between the Thames and the National Theatre, a good place to watch the crowd, when early for a play.
Another from my visit to London last month.
11”x 9” ink and watercolor

  1. Ha...definitely one of those moments when someone feels they are being studied!
This is amazing...how you've captured her expression...
I wonder if she will ever see the finished sketch.
She would be really flattered. I know I would! :)

    1. A fairly typical expression when I am caught obviously taking a strangers photo. Some will immediately smile. Some don’t. Some will even initiate another pose. Other turn away. As I said, I typically pretend I wasn’t watching them by clicking more photos around them.
So far I’ve not had anyone tell me they recognized themselves in the resulting painting.

  2. yes you never know what the reaction will be, I love the painting just caught she caught you lol, I know that when I take a photo of someone right in front of me I show it and ask if they mind...would you believe I've been threatened...oh Yeah, on guy screamed at me 'Hey one day someone's gonna kill you for that" truly if I'm to do, I would love it dying while taking a photo, at least it would a classy exit, standing up lol

    1. I will take your experience as a warning to continue to be carful. I really don’t want to make my models, if they know they are or not, uncomfortable, or mad...
