After
Known
to be near,
For
so many years
the
distance
exaggerated
by
optimistic dreams.
“ST”
does these sorts of poses so well. This sketch of him fits so easily into the images
of the story preoccupying my thoughts these days.
Islands
off Solitude
9”x
12” fountain pen, oil sanguine and chalk on toned paper
Indeed, the distance is relative of time, and nothing at all when wall between times get thinner...so, the islands of solitude are available always whenever you want them...the beauty and zest though I guess in longing, anticipation of them, but not the island themselves...some paradox here
ReplyDeleteSome paradox I agree, but more so for now how easy it is to exaggerate within a simple dream.
DeleteVery impressive sketch !!!
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteI feel his pain, distant like he thinks the Islands off Solitude are far....he's so near....
ReplyDeleteHe does express pain so easily. He is a good actor, quite capable of covering the distance to the islands easily.
DeleteWhat is distance, really?
ReplyDeleteIs it dependent upon our perception?
For, in thought, it can be so vast...or nothing at all - are the Islands not simply a thought away?
He is there now.
While his body slumbers...HE is far away...
Superb!! :)
I agree up to the point of the islands reality.. They are and have always been real. It’s only the other realities that place them so far away.
DeleteFor the sake of his pain, I hope he is there too☺
Thank you
Lorraine mentioned you in her awards on Sat so I stopped by for a visit.
