Unable to Stay Away

Unable to Stay Away

The freezing temperatures,
snowflakes,
winter setting in,
I was able to ignore,
while she slept
for a short time,
on a favorite shore.

This morning when “B” eventually settled into to this familiar pose, I knew my sketch of her would place her on a favorite shore in my islands, of course, off Solitude.
24”x 18” pastel on colored paper.

  1. How beautifully you drew her, even with the snow falling, our second snow, I would still like to be her.

    1. Thank you
It would be nice to be her, where I placed her, on a favorite shore.

    1. Hard to avoid these kinds of miracles, embraced in imagination for so long. She did take me to a warmer time and place..

  4. Such familiar emotions and longings this wonderful sketch evokes...many a time have I strolled beside the sea on a cold, out-of-season day, and imagined lying alone there on the sand, with the snow falling upon my skin...oh the poignancy!! :)

    1. It is such a gift to have or have had time along a familiar shore. I like the off season cold days on the shore almost as much, maybe even more, for the privacy of having it all to yourself. If snow were falling, though, I’d be inclined to have a nice warm wool blanket to wrap around most of my skin☺
