A Train
We
were on a train for a long time yesterday traveling from London to Edinburg.
I
finished a novel.
I
napped.
I
tried taking photos of the countryside.
Trees,
bush, hills, tunnels and bridges flashed by, blocking too often the perfect
shots. Very frustrating.
So
I sketched, attempting to memorize momentary views, as the train in a flash,
passed them. After viewing the image, I would sketch, embellishing and letting
the lines work through to a point when doing more didn’t seem right.
Then
I would look out again and start another.

Love how you drew this, felt like I was on a trip myself of course started at the start, 'cause starting at the end confused me..But I enjoyed this little train trip, love the lake and everything after, so what novel did you read?
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the trip☺
DeleteI finished “The Sea House” by Esther Freud. Liked it a lot..
Sounds like a good Holidays book, I'll make a note of it, thank you
ReplyDeleteSo amazing, these wonderful sketches...they suggest the swift movement of a train, and those momentary glimpses of scenery as it flies by.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing through your eyes.
Many thanks for sharing your experience. :)
I’m so glad you enjoyed. They did help make the trip feel a bit shorter.
DeleteThank you
I love these - they have that caught in the moment feeling to them. Very successful!
ReplyDeleteThe trick is keeping the image in your head until the lines catch up.
