L'Amerique du Sud

L’Amerique du Sud

The sculptor of L’Amerique du Sud was Aime Millet.
This is the last of my sketches from my own sketches and reference photos of the Six Continent Sculptures at the entrance of the Musee D’Orsay. There are two sculptures I didn’t get to during my few days in Paris last week, L'Océanie and L'Europe. I may at some point do sketches of the remaining two from photos on the Musee D’Orsay website, just to have sketches of all six.
9”x 12” fountain pen and chalk on toned grey paper

    1. Thank you.
More of the credit should go to the sculptors. They were all different, yet are similar enough to have all been done by one.

  4. I have really enjoyed these too, and hope to see the final two soon.
This one struck me as a Roman Goddess...probably something in her costume, hairstyle, etc.
    She is just amazing! :)

    1. I wonder how long the model sat for the sculptor? I wonder how much was her, how much was the sculptor?
