The Bather

The Bather

Sketching sculptures at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
This is a sketch of Albert Toft’s sculpture “The Bather” (1915).
I should have started a little smaller, to get all of her on the page.
9”x 12” fountain pen and chalk on toned grey paper

    1. Thank you.
I can imagine the artist creating this from a block of marble.

    1. This site is where I post my daily progress and events related to my art. I don’t think this will change. I need a place like this as incentive to do draw and/or paint every day.
Thank you though for the thought. It would be nice to see more of my work hanging on other peoples walls☺

  3. Wow! Fabulous sense of period to this one...it really feels like I've stepped back in time!
The way her contours are highlighted in white gives the impression of a monochrome photograph.
    You've truly created a masterpiece...:)

    1. I think the ink and chalk on toned grey paper contributes to the monochrome look. I thought the female form of this sculpture looked quite modern.
      Thank you so much
